Silence, Radical Root, & Journal Auctions to Benefit Two Great Charities

Kim, our great moderator over at the Blissfully Art Journaling yahoo group has provided prompts to journal backwards through the alphabet. I'm having a lot of fun!

Last year, several members of BAJ participated in traveling art journals. Two of them are complete and up for auction on ebay with the proceeds going to charity. Please take a look and consider bidding on one or both journals to benefit two great charities! (Links are in color below.)

The Love Journal winning bid will be donated to the My Stuff Bags Foundation. I had the pleasure of creating three two-page spreads in this journal.

"Imagine the trauma of being a child separated from all you know – parents, possessions and home – and not having anything to cling to for comfort. Sadly, each year, hundreds of thousands of children here in the United States must be rescued from severe abuse, neglect or abandonment. Traumatized and facing an uncertain future, they frequently enter shelters and foster care with nothing – no favorite stuffed animal, no special blanket. They are afraid, disoriented, and desperate for comfort. That’s where we come in.

The My Stuff Bags Foundation, with the help of thousands of people across the country, provides these unfortunate children with new belongings and new hope through its innovative “My Stuff Bags” program."

The Friendship Journal winning bid will be donated to the Polaris Project.

“Named after the North Star that guided slaves towards freedom along the Underground Railroad, Polaris Project has been providing a comprehensive approach to combating human trafficking and modern-day slavery since 2002. Polaris Project is a leading organization in the United States combating all forms of human trafficking and serving both U.S. citizens and foreign national victims, including men, women, and children. We use a holistic strategy, taking what we learn from our work with survivors and using it to guide the creation of long-term solutions.”

  5. Hello Tammy...Those are two wonderful foundations. I hadn't heard of either one before. I know of an excellent foundation, too. MEF - I make jewelry for the Melanoma Education Foundation which helps educate people in schools and corporations about preventing melanoma.

Anyway, I loved the OWOH journey so much I've decided to go back over the list of bloggers once again. I'm starting backwards on the list! It will take me a while, but I'm discovering I missed a lot in my rush to get through the first time.

If you have a moment I hope you'll visit my blog. I signed up to follow you and perhaps you'll decide to follow me, too.
